At the beginning, I was nervous,
I didn't know what to except.
Meeting the grandparent for the first time,
When he holds you in such high regard.
Silly me, I should have known,
You're Memere, you welcomed me with open arms,
As if I was your own.
From there, we had our Facebook chats about anything and everything.
In person I would place my hand over yours,
I was thinking I was comforting you, but you comforted me.
You showed me strength, kindness and love all rolled in a beautiful woman.
Now, there will always be a slice of my banana bread in my freezer for you.
