To the Hall family, my heartfelt condolences to all of you. I have many memories of Cal, especially during my teenage years with my many visits to the family home with Heather. He always seemed to be happy, with a story to tell. Cal and Miep always visited with mom and Dad and Cal was forever trying to talk Dad into combing his hair so it didn't stand up straight! He was also very proud of his family. He was a valued member of the community and will be remembered in so many ways.

It is with fondest memories that I write this heartfelt message of condolence to all of you. Cal was always so kind to stop in and visit mom and dad, tell a few stories, and maybe even a song or two. He certainly had a zest for life. I know your hearts are heavy but he will always be with you.

Sincere condolences to you, Miep, your children and extended family on the passing of a wonderful man. Over the years through his interaction through John, Steve and Florie , Cal became a close family friend. He was always willing to lend a hand, pass an hour in idle chat, entertain with a story. There was always such a sense of serenity surrounding him - May he find eternal serenity in the loving arms of his Maker.

It is with the utmost sadness to hear of Cal's passing. I send my most sincere condolences to you Miep and Roland, Florence, Nancy, Darlene, Heather, Natasha and all members of your family during this difficult time. While no words can can express how you are all feeling right now, I hope you are all cherishing the great memories that you have all had with this wonderful man. Cal has been with me this past few days and will be for the rest of my life I assure you. For me, Cal was an amazing uncle and shared many stories of his life and times in Newfoundland and abroad over the years. While I know in recent years his memories have been compromised with Alzheimer's, he was always known to have such a vivid memory and could literally recount steps from his childhood. He was such a great story teller and dearly loved music and song. I look back at the close friendship he had with my father Stephen Hurley and my uncle John Hurley and I can only envision the three of them now in heaven laughing, arguing, or having a drink together and enjoying the afterlife to the fullest. I send this final farewell to one of the finest of men, my Uncle Cal.

Miep and family
Gwen and I extend our deepest sympathy to Miep and family on Cal's passing. He was a dear friend and special cousin to all of us Hurley children especially on the sudden passing of our father in 1954. He was always there for assistance and support whenever it was needed. He was also a special nephew to our Mother who revered him and treated him as one of her own. He was Christian in so many special ways.
May he rest in peace
